California 2016

We flew out to California in May for my brother-in-law's graduation from USC's Physical Therapy program; the number ONE physical therapy program in the country.  We are so proud of Dr. Adams.  The graduation was so neat.  There is a lot of tradition there at USC.  I LOVE graduations, and this one did not disappoint.

They put on a fun barbecue for all of us visitors, complete with USC decor.

A hike in the Santa Monica area up to ocean views.  The June gloom was making an early appearance this year.

I stayed for a week after all of the other visitors went home.  The highlight was a day at Disneyland; just me and Kara.  When you are pregnant and cannot ride all of the rides, you do the next best thing, which may actually be the best thing at Disneyland: you eat your way through the park.  The proof is in the pictures.

Probably my favorite thing that day...how can you not have a great day when you start it off with a Mickey waffle?

Matterhorn Macaroon...absolutely delicious, and the cheapest thing you can eat at Disneyland.

Disneyland 60th Anniversary cupcake along with baby girl's pin showing that it is her 1st visit to the Happiest Place on Earth.

Lunch appetizer...French Onion Soup...to die for.

Fried Green Tomato sandwich for lunch...delish

Baby girl enjoying the Boysen-Apple Slush

And ended the day with a Mickey pretzel while waiting for the parade

It's A Girl!

At the end of March, we found out that we are having a girl!  We were kind of surprised; we thought for sure that it was a boy.  But we are very excited to soon be welcoming a pink bundle of joy.  Here are some treats that I made for mine and Clayton's co-workers since they had all put in some guesses of the gender.

Denver 2016

At the beginning of March, we flew to Denver to watch Clayton's niece play in the Colorado Crossroads volleyball tournament.  She is only 12, but is a great little player.  It was fun to watch her play.

During one of the breaks, we walked around Denver a little bit with Clayton's brother and his wife.  Here is their capitol building.  I tried asking the people that worked inside about the significance of the blue color on the top part.  They looked at me like I was crazy...not sure why they are not seeing the blue like I do...

It's True...

It is true...we are expecting Baby Bodell in August.  We thought it would be fun to surprise our families and fly out to Utah to make the announcement.  The only Utah people that knew we were coming were Clayton's brother and sister-in-law.  And even then, they thought that we were just coming to surprise Clayton's parents on their shared birthday.  They were nice enough to help us out and planned an cake/ice cream get together on Clayton's parents' birthday.

But first, we surprised the Pops...which did not go quite as planned.  We were going to ring his doorbell and leave this at his front door, but we beat him to his house, so we thought it would be fun to hide in the house and leave this on his counter.  Basically, we freaked him out and almost gave him a heart attack.  If only he had taken the time to read the cute poem that Kara wrote, but of course he didn't.  It probably took a good twelve hours before he really came out of shock and was able to enjoy the surprise.  Oh Pops...why didn't you read the note!  Instead, he was freaked out by how someone could get in his house with doors locked and the security alarm set.

At Clayton's brother's house, we hid in the basement until everyone was there for the birthday party.  Then we came up and surprised them all.  For the majority of the party, they all thought that our visit was the only surprise.  But then we brought out the cake.  Surprise number two!

Us...parents...I know it's a frightening thought.  But we are very excited for Baby Bodell!!!

Jazz @ Rockets

Clayton knows me well...he got me tickets to the Jazz vs Rockets game for Christmas.  Loved supporting my Jazz at an away game.

Waiting outside the Toyota Center...this was my first time really being in "downtown" Houston.  We usually visit other parts of the city.

Clayton also got me a new shirt for Christmas to wear to the game

Yao Ming's got nothing on Clayton
Look who I spotted...one of the best looking players the Utah Jazz have ever had...and he waved to me...

So I thought it was only appropriate to get a pic with him...thanks Matt Harpring!!
